Oak-Clad Bespoke Floating Staircase - Carlisle, Cumbria
It was a case of old meets new as a modern feature staircase was required in an old 18th Century former farmhouse. After restoring the external appearance of the building to reveal the original cobblestones, the design specifications for inside were to be modern. A floating feature staircase was designed by the Metalwork Solutions UK team to give the illusion of space and allow more light to circulate through the building. The metal treads that were set into the wall were encased in oak, to maintain a degree of earthiness. Glass balustrades give the illusion that the staircase is floating.
